Why now?

I hear people saying they feel disconnected and unheard. "Politicians don't listen."  Well I do.  That's exactly why I'm running.

As an individual councillor, I don't have the ability to steer the ship.  Legislative changes from the province over the past few years have made it even more difficult for municipal councils to do the work you expect us to do. It's time to stand up.  Cities are the economic drivers of the country.  We need a new deal for cities.

We are living in a changing, complicated world. It's in this moment that experienced, serious, compassionate leadership is needed most at city hall.

I admire what Cam brought to this role over the last three terms. Now it's time for the hard skills and new inspiration this moment demands.

Why Leanne?

I've spent my years as a councillor listening to residents — not just the ones who show up at meetings, or the ones who are loudest -- but all of you. That's my job. And that's what I'll continue to do as your mayor. Every major decision will include genuine consultation.

I bring something different: deep policy research, evidence-based decisions, and genuine community connection. And when I make a mistake or learn something new, I'll say so.  If a process or policy isn't working, we change it.

I’ve been a change leader, a volunteer, an entrepreneur, a mentor, a working mother, and a public servant. I know what this city asks of people in many walks of life, because I've been there.  My track record has helped to build Guelph's AAA credit rating and our ranking as one of Canada's most livable cities.
